Basketball Game Preview: Central Woodstock Falcons vs. Clarke County Eagles

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Central Woodstock Falcons challenge the Clarke County Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday... Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Central Woodstock blew past Strasburg, posting a 64-31 victory. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Rams are ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clarke County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They strolled past Madison County with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 53-37. That 16 point margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Clarke County's win came from a few key players Central Woodstock will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tanner Sipe, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Booker, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Clarke County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Central Woodstock's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Clarke County, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9.

Central Woodstock strolled past Clarke County when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 58-39. Does Central Woodstock have another victory up their sleeve, or will Clarke County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
