Basketball Recap: Vinton-Shellsburg Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grundy Center, Vinton-Shellsburg was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Jesup J-Hawks by a score of 62-50. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 65-60 loss the last time these two teams met.

The win got Vinton-Shellsburg back to even at 9-9. As for Jesup, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-13.

Looking ahead, Vinton-Shellsburg won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Grinnell at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.94 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Jesup, they and Wapsie Valley will face off at 7:45 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played.
