Softball Preview: Westfield Bulldogs vs. Yorktown Patriots
The Westfield Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Yorktown Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westfield will be strutting in after a victory while Yorktown will be coming in after a loss.
Westfield proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by nine) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Forest Park 14-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since April 12, 2024.

Morgan Mills made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Mills was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).
In other batting news, Rylee Schmid was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season. Ciara Ramsey was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Yorktown unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 5-0 to Briar Woods on Friday.
Westfield couldn't quite get it done against Yorktown when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can Westfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
