Softball Recap: Penn Victorious

Penn won the last time they faced New Prairie and things went their way on Thursday too. The Kingsmen walked away with a 4-1 win over the Cougars. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Kingsmen.

Kendall Courtney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Emma Pratt was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Kaiya Garringer was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Penn's victory bumped their record up to 19-3. As for New Prairie, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17-1.

Looking ahead, Penn will look to defend their home field on Friday against Carroll at 6:00 p.m. The Kingsmen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for New Prairie, they will take on Mishawaka Marian at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
