Soccer Recap: West Brunswick Falls to Asheboro in First Game of Season

West Brunswick unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They fell 3-1 to the Asheboro Blue Comets on Wednesday. Both teams had to tread carefully at times as the refs weren't afraid to hand out yellow cards: Jamie De La Cruz was handed one for West Brunswick, while Asheboro got theirs courtesy of Alexander Diaz.

West Brunswick will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Heide Trask at 6:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Asheboro, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next game, a 6-0 defeat against Hoggard on the 14th.
