Softball Game Preview: Southwestern Wildcats vs. Boscobel Bulldogs

Southwestern is 1-9 against Boscobel since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Southwestern came up short against Lancaster on Tuesday, falling 8-1. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Southwestern saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Lewerke, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That run marked the first that Lewerke has scored this season.

Meanwhile, Boscobel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 20-0 to Iowa-Grant. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Panthers since on Monday.

Southwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Boscobel, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Southwestern couldn't quite get it done against Boscobel in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
