Baseball Recap: Washington Township Senators vs. Kankakee Valley Kougars

Washington Township was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 8-5 to the Kankakee Valley Kougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Washington Township of the 14-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2022.

Gavin Kukler was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

On Kankakee Valley's side, Spencer Childers made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Childers was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a triple.

In other batting news, Rowan Kenning was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Alex Barr was another key contributor, going 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Washington Township's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Kankakee Valley, their record is now 5-13.

Washington Township will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Hebron at 4:30 p.m. As for Kankakee Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Munster at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
