Basketball Recap: Nalani Grayson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead John Marshall over John Hay

After flying high against John F. Kennedy last Friday, John Marshall came back down to earth. The John Marshall Lawyers received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 39-24 to John Hay. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against John Hay this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-43 last Monday.

John Marshall lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nalani Grayson, who posted four points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Danielle Brown, who earned six points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, John Marshall smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

John Hay got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordyn Webb out in front who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 14 boards. Webb is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Carly Fisher was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

John Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for John Hay, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.

Coming up, John Marshall will face off against Lutheran East at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. John Marshall's defense has only allowed 26.4 points per game this season, so Lutheran East's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for John Hay, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 46-43 loss against Cornerstone Christian on the 8th.
