Softball Recap: Salem Takes a Loss

Salem extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-13. They came up short against the First Colonial Patriots, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-13 back in March.

Salem saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Denise Amador, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for First Colonial, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-9. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

On First Colonial's side, Cori Evans spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, First Colonial got a massive performance out of Addison Foxwell, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four RBI gave Foxwell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maura Haesler, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salem will welcome Mechanicsville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for First Colonial, they will square off against Princess Anne at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
