Volleyball Recap: Montrose Takes a Loss

Montrose lost against Valley View back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Meteors fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-2. The Meteors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:three sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. The final score came out to 25-17, 24-26, 26-24, 25-27, 17-15.

SADIE JONES paced Montrose's offense, picking up 14 kills. JONES got some help from GRACIE JONES and her 25 assists. Finally, MOLLY WELLER kept Montrose's defense grounded, leading the team with seven blocks.

It was another big night for Layla Marino, who had 15 digs, 13 kills, and six aces for Valley View. Marino has been hot, having posted five or more aces the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Hallock, who had ten digs and four aces.

Montrose's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Valley View, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Montrose will venture away from home to challenge Lake-Lehman at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Valley View, they will head out to take on Berwick at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
