Recap: Rivercrest Colts vs. Corning Bobcats
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Rivercrest Colts ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 69-68 victory over Corning. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rivercrest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Destiny Burks, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Burks is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Zakiyah Brownlee was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 19 rebounds.
Rivercrest is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Corning, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rivercrest will challenge Piggott at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Piggott is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Corning, they will head out on the road to challenge Manila at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
