Crossings Christian has gone a perfect 10-0 against Blackwell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Knights will be playing at home against the Maroons at 5:00 p.m.
Crossings Christian managed to slip by Chisholm the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Knights came up short against the Longhorns on Tuesday, falling 14-7. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Alex Foraker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Carson Baugh was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Blackwell). They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over Putnam City on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Maroons considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Andrew Young and Eyzic Burke did most of the damage at the plate: Young went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Burke went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Burke is becoming a predictor of Blackwell's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-18 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Tanner Ward, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.
Blackwell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Putnam City only posted an OBP of .417.
Crossings Christian's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-12. As for Blackwell, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-18.
Everything went Crossings Christian's way against Blackwell in their previous matchup last Wednesday, as Crossings Christian made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Maroons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
