Softball Recap: Danville Takes a Loss

Danville lost against Central Columbia back in May of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Ironmen fell just short of the Bluejays by a score of 6-5.

Maclin Hickey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brynn Wilson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Danville has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Central Columbia, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Danville will venture away from home to take on North Schuylkill at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Ironmen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. As for Central Columbia, they are taking a road trip to challenge Southern Columbia Area at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
