            Softball Recap: Sullivan Redskins vs. Villa Grove Blue Devils        
        
		
        
        
            Sullivan made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Villa Grove, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Redskins blew past the Blue Devils 8-2 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Redskins, who have now won five matches by six  runs or more  so far this season.

 Aeralyn Thrasher made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out 13 batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   seven  hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent  recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave  her a new career-high in  doubles (two).
 In other batting news,  Harmony Ray was  incredible,  going a perfect 4-for-4 with two  triples, three  RBI,  and one  run. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in May of 2024.  Mackenzie Mercer also deserves some recognition as  she  hit her first  double of the season.
 Sullivan was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .455. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their  batting average total in three consecutive  games.
Sullivan's win was  their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 9-6. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Villa Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
 Looking ahead, Sullivan will square off against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Redskins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.5  runs per game this season. As for Villa Grove, they will challenge Centennial at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
