Softball Game Preview: Ingleside Mustangs vs. Victoria West Warriors

Ingleside is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Victoria West is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mustangs will host the Warriors at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Ingleside's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Victoria West's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Friday, Ingleside got the win against Calhoun by a conclusive 9-3. Considering the Mustangs have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Victoria West fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Victoria East on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 17-16. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (15), the Warriors still had to take the loss.

Abigayle Stephens stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 4-for-6 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Celeste Kubicek was another key player, scoring four runs while going 3-for-5.

Ingleside has been performing well recently as they've won 17 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Victoria West, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 12-11 record.
