Football Game Preview: Savanna Rebels vs. Saddleback Roadrunners

The Savanna Rebels will challenge the Saddleback Roadrunners at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Savanna will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Savanna is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell 36-28 to Magnolia on Thursday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 22, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Savanna's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Issic Alonzo, who picked up 100 receiving yards and two TDs, and Nate Eich, who threw for 138 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Saddleback's strategy against Godinez Fundamental on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Roadrunners blew the Grizzlies out of the water with a 52-14 final score. The Roadrunners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 35 points or more this season.

Savanna better keep an eye on Andre Scott. He was instrumental in Saddleback's win, throwing for 312 yards and six touchdowns. Those 312 passing yards gave Scott a new career-high.

Saddleback is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points over those games. As for Savanna, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Savanna suffered a grim 34-13 defeat to Saddleback in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Roadrunners' Fabian Bravo, who rushed for 247 yards and three scores. Now that the Rebels know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
