There's no place like home for R-S Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They never let the Burns Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Thursday. The Hilltoppers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Maeli Crain's shutout, as she gave up just five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Layna Jeffords, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lillie Beheler, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
R-S Central's win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Burns, they moved to 12-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
Coming up, R-S Central will square off against T.C. Roberson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Burns does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
