Soccer Game Preview: Desert Vista vs. Pinnacle

Desert Vista and Pinnacle are an even 4-4-2 against one another since December of 2014, but likely not for long. The Desert Vista Thunder will be playing at home against the Pinnacle Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Desert Vista will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Desert Vista is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Brophy College Prep, who was ranked 13th at the time (Desert Vista was ranked ninth). Desert Vista's defense stepped up to hand Brophy College Prep a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Thunder have won by just one goal.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Kalib Akerson, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Pinnacle hasn't lost a match yet, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They blew past Horizon 4-1. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won seven contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Pinnacle's victory bumped their record up to 13-0-2. As for Desert Vista, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3-3.
