Baseball Recap: Hobbton Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Hobbton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Southern Wayne Saints a 24-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Nathan Neal made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kasey Lee was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braxton McLamb, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Hobbton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive matchups.

Hobbton's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Southern Wayne, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Looking ahead, Hobbton will take on West Columbus in a tournament on Tuesday. As for Southern Wayne, they will square off against Hunt at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
