Basketball Recap: Derek Crumpton and Marcus Green Secure Win for Athens Drive

Athens Drive lost to Enloe back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Athens Drive Jaguars came out on top against the Enloe Eagles by a score of 51-40. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.

Athens Drive was led to victory by Marcus Green and Derek Crumpton. Green posted 12 points along with eight boards and seven assists, while Crumpton went 5 of 8 en route to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Green has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Collin Peters, who earned ten points and six boards.

Despite the defeat, Enloe saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gui Wilkins scored 11 points and three steals. Preston Williams was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Athens Drive's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Enloe, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

Athens Drive and Enloe could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Athens Drive (ranked 233rd) will meet Sanderson (ranked 23rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Enloe will take on Cardinal Gibbons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday down 365 places (422 vs. 57).
