Basketball Game Preview: Red Bud Musketeers vs. Wesclin Warriors

Red Bud and Wesclin are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Red Bud Musketeers will head out to face off against the Wesclin Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Thursday, Red Bud came up short against Marissa/Coulterville and fell 39-30.

Despite the defeat, Red Bud saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Talia Carter went 5 of 12 on her way to 10 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Red Bud smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Wesclin hadn't done well against Salem recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Wesclin sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-39 victory over Salem. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since December 9, 2024.

Red Bud's loss dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Wesclin, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Red Bud came up short against Wesclin when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 45-40. Can Red Bud avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
