Basketball Recap: Liberty Takes Down Dobson in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Liberty had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 68-47 margin over the Dobson Mustangs. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Francesca Sofia was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 26 points and nine steals. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. Emma Koker was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards.

Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Liberty pushed their record up to 17-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. As for Dobson, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-18.

Looking ahead, Liberty will face off against Perry at 7:00 p.m. on February 27th. Liberty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season. Dobson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
