Softball Recap: Sulligent Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

There's no place like home for Sulligent, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the South Lamar Stallions on Wednesday, sneaking past 6-4. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Stallions recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Kaylee Crawford made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Crawford was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Lann, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted over her last six contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Claire Baughn, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Sulligent's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for South Lamar, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sulligent will challenge Red Bay at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Lamar, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gordo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Green Wave's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Stallions' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
