Football Recap: Monte Vista Comes Up Short

Monte Vista had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 5-5 to make it five. They lost 56-33 to the Grossmont Foothillers. While losing is never fun, the Monarchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 613th, while the Foothillers are ranked 206th).

As for Grossmont, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.6 points over those games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grossmont to victory, but perhaps none more so than Corbin Dow, who rushed for 238 yards and one TD while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Those 238 rushing yards gave Dow a new career-high. Tyler Holmes was another key passer, throwing for 245 yards and four touchdowns.

As of now, neither Monte Vista nor Grossmont have any future games scheduled.
