Softball Preview: Gothenburg Swedes vs. Gering Bulldogs        
        
		
             The Gothenburg Swedes will take on the Gering Bulldogs at 9:00  a.m.  on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
 Gothenburg is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Lexington  on Thursday. Gothenburg put the hurt on Lexington with a sharp  14-2 victory.
 Gothenburg let  Taye Herrick and  Dakota Warner loose on the outfield. Herrick  scored three  runs while going 2-for-3, while  Warner  scored three  runs while going 2-for-3. Herrick also  hit a  double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was  Molly Therrien, who  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances.
 Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Gothenburg was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .385. The last time their  batting average was this high was  back in October of 2023.
 Meanwhile,  winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better  (just ask Gering). Everything went their way against Alliance on Tuesday as Gering made off with  a  25-11 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded Gering with their most commanding win of the  season.
 Gothenburg's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Gering, they pushed their record up to 3-6 with that  win, which was their third straight  on the road.
 Gothenburg skirted past Gering  3-2 in their previous matchup  back in August of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gothenburg since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
