Lafayette Jefferson is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will look to defend their home field against the Kokomo Wildkats at 6:30 p.m. Lafayette Jefferson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

While Lafayette Jefferson didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Huntington North by a score of 6-3 on Saturday.

Lafayette Jefferson's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ben Pickering, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Preston Robertson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Kokomo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Roncalli.

Eli Roe made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Lafayette Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Kokomo, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Lafayette Jefferson came up short against Kokomo in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 4-1. Can the Bronchos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
