Softball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Fernley's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Fernley unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chico Panthers. If the Vaqueros were looking for revenge after losing 9-6 to the Panthers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Hunter Lyle made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Taylor Tollestrup, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Fernley's defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Chico, they moved to 8-9 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Fernley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-3 victory against Red Bluff on the 25th. As for Chico, they have also already played their next matchup, an 8-1 win against Colusa on the 25th.
