Four Top 10 teams tumble while previously unranked Mercy of Michigan jumps into No. 8 spot.

Four Top 10 teams lost week, including three who were previously unbeaten, and one of the newly ranked teams went from unranked to a Top 10 spot in this week's MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National High School Volleyball Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.

Mercy (Farmington Hills, Mich.) owns a 28-game win streak and swept through the Beast of the East Tournament without losing a set to run its record to 39-2.

In dominating the "Beast," Mercy defeated 44-4 Lake Orion (MI) in the finals and 35-5 Grand Rapids Christian (MI) in the semifinals. With All-American Jess Mruzik in the lineup, the Marlins have lost just one set this season.

Redondo Union (Redondo Beach, Calif.) remained No. 2 behind top-rated Assumption (Louisville, KY), winners of 52 in a row. The Yorktown Tigers, ranked No. 3, obliterated three opponents as the postseason began, outscoring their foes 225-62 in winning all nine sets.



Losing over the weekend were the Nos. 6, 7, 8 and 10 teams and only Marist (Chicago) and Helias (Jefferson City, Mo.) remained in the Top 25.

In addition to Mercy, three other teams join the Top 25 this week — Oviedo (Fla.), and unbeatens D.H. Conley (N.C.) and Old Tappan (N.J.).

1. (Last week 1) Assumption (Louisville, Ky.), 36-0
The Rockets opened the playoffs with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-14) win over Male (Louisville) and ran their win streak to 52.

2. (2) Redondo Union (Redondo Beach, Calif.), 32-2
The Seahawks ended their regular season with 15 wins in a row.

3. (3) Yorktown (Ind.), 31-0
The Tigers ran their win streak to 31 with a trio of playoff-opening wins.

4. (4) Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), 35-2
The Monarchs captured the Trinity League title and concluded the regular season with six-straight wins.



5. (5) Byron Nelson (Trophy Club, Texas), 37-1
The Bobcats beat Carroll (Southlake), 3-1. They have won 13 straight matches.

6. (9) Millennium (Goodyear, Ariz.), 38-1
In 96 sets this season, the Tigers have lost six and none in their last nine matches.

7. (12) Cedar Falls (Iowa), 42-0
The Tigers captured the Missouri Valley Conference tournament for the second year in a row and have lost just one set this season.

8. (NR) Mercy (Farmington Hills, Mich.), 39-2
The Marlins went 7-0 without losing a set in winning the prestigious Beast of the East Invitational. They last lost more than a month ago, have won 28 straight and have not lost with National Youth Girls Team player Jess Mruzik on the court.

9. (11) Walton (Marietta, Ga.), 36-3
The Raiders latest win streak is at 11. They opened the postseason with 3-0 wins over 20-20 Roswell and 33-16 Etowah (Woodstock).

10. (16) Castle (Newburgh, Ind.), 34-1
The Knights have won 25 in a row after opening the postseason with 3-0 wins over 15-11 Reitz (Evansville) and 27-8 Jasper. Up next: South (Bloomington), 22-1.



11. (14) Torrey Pines (San Diego), 27-3
The Falcons have won 15 of their last 16 and close out their regular season this week.

12. (15) Kamehameha Kapalama (Honolulu), 33-2
The Warriors beat previously ranked and Honolulu rival Iolani (22-5) for the fourth time this season.

13. (17) Chaparral (Parker, Colo.), 15-1
The Wolverines ran their win streak to 10 and have lost just four sets during the streak.

14. (18) Ridge Point (Missouri City, Texas), 38-4
The Panthers ran their win streak to 24 with a pair of wins over Fort Bend rivals. They have lost just seven sets during the stretch.

15. (21) The Woodlands (Texas), 40-4
The Highlanders have won 14 in a row with only two losses in set play during that span. Senior Georgia Murphy (Miami pledge) is averaging 6.3 digs per set.

16. (19) Mt. Carmel (New Orleans), 28-1
The Cubs have won 14 in a row and have lost only one set during that streak. Up next is 26-5 Archbishop Chapelle (Metairie).



17. (22) Champlin Park (Champlin, Minn.), 22-1
The Rebels have won 11 in a row and have not lost a set during that streak. Up next: 21-4 Osseo (MN).

18. (23) Northwest (Germantown, Md.), 11-0
The Jaguars got 21 kills from Jenaisya Moore in blanking Churchill (Potomac, Md.) to run their win streak to 39 matches.

19. (24) Briarcrest Christian (Eads, Tenn.), 37-2
The Saints opened the postseason with a lopsided 3-0 win over Lipscomb Academy (Nashville).

20. (6) Marist (Chicago), 28-2
The Redhawks close out the regular season with a pair of tough outings this week — 28-5 Benet (Lisle) on Tuesday and 22-3 Nazareth Academy (LaGrane Park) on Thursday.

21. (7) Helias (Jefferson City, Mo.), 33-1-2
The Crusaders saw their perfect season end in a 2-0 (25-23, 26-24) loss to 25-4 Herman. They rebounded by winning the Ozark Grand Slam Tournament last weekend.

22. (NR) NV - Old Tappan (N.J.), 18-0
The defending state D3 champions have won 23 in a row and haven't lost since October to Immaculate Heart Academy (Washington Township, N.J.). The Golden Knights get their chance for revenge on Thursday when they travel to 27-1 Immaculate Heart, winners of 17 in a row.



23. (NR) D.H. Conley (Greenville, N.C.), 18-0
The Vikings have three games this week against opponents with a combined record of 18-29. The regular season ends Wednesday against 3-12 Eastern Wayne (Goldsboro, N.C.).

24. (25) Fossil Ridge (Fort Collins, Colo.), 15-1
The Sabercats are winners of 15 straight, the last six without losing a set.

25. (NR) Oviedo (Fla.), 21-4
The Lions won the Swing for Cure tournament defeating previously ranked Plant in the finals. They are peaking at the right time as the playoffs begin this weekend.
