Football Game Preview: Troy Warriors vs. Irvine Vaqueros + How To Watch

The Troy Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Irvine Vaqueros at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Troy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

Troy's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They really took it to Canyon for the full four quarters, racking up a 37-0 victory. The game marked the Warriors' most dominant win of the season.

Ethan Mundt was his usual excellent self, rushing for 153 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 138 rushing yards. Troy also got a significant boost from Jackson Hintz, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Troy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 267 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 189 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Troy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Andrew Green and Noah Torosian. Torosian also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Troy received some extra help from Roy Bouakar, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, Irvine unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 31-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of El Toro.

Troy will have to keep a close watch on Sina Saferzadeh and Seamus Hoffman, a pair of players who had a big impact on Irvine's prior game. Saferzadeh threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns, while Hoffman gained 123 total yards.

Troy's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Irvine, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2.

Everything came up roses for Troy against Irvine when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 49-13 win. In that contest, the Warriors amassed a halftime lead of 28-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
