Baseball Game Preview: Conneaut Area Eagles vs. Girard Yellowjackets

The Conneaut Area Eagles will head out to face off against the Girard Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Conneaut Area is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since April 29, 2024 on Monday. They never let Northwestern get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Eagles have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Conneaut Area saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashton Headley, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Girard's offense. They came up short against North East on Tuesday, falling 6-0. The Yellowjackets have struggled against the Grape Pickers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Conneaut Area's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3. As for Girard, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Conneaut Area took their win against Girard in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
