Basketball Recap: Urbana University Comes Up Short

Urbana University lost against Cerro Gordo/Bement back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Urbana University Illineks were dealt a 75-43 loss at the hands of the Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos. The Illineks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Urbana University still got an impressive performance from Olisa Allanah, who posted 18 points. Those 18 points gave Allanah a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Fermin Garmendia, who had eight points.

Urbana University's record is now 1-7. As for Cerro Gordo/Bement, with the win, they broke their eight-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-8.

When Urbana University and Cerro Gordo/Bement next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Urbana University will try to stop Westville's four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cerro Gordo/Bement will challenge Arcola and their five-game winning streak at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
