Basketball Game Preview: Shades Valley Mounties vs. Hueytown Golden Gophers + How To Watch

The Shades Valley Mounties will take on the Hueytown Golden Gophers in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Shades Valley's favor as the team sits on 11 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Hueytown has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Shades Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Starkville, who was ranked first in their home state at the time (Shades Valley was ranked tenth). The Mounties lost to the Yellowjackets on the road by a 63-46 margin on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Hueytown ended up a good deal behind Hewitt-Trussville on Friday and lost 52-34.

Shades Valley will have to contain Mike Johnson as he made an impact in Hueytown's last game. He dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Johnson is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Maurice Cash, who posted six points.

Hueytown's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Shades Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-3.

Shades Valley strolled past Hueytown when the teams last played two weeks ago by a score of 49-32. Will the Mounties repeat their success, or do the Golden Gophers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
