Softball Recap: Derby Gets the Win

Derby won the last time they faced Crosby and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Red Raiders came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 7-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Raiders.

Kaelyn DiMartino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma DeSanty, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Ari McNeill was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Derby's record now sits at 5-11. As for Crosby, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Derby will square off against Harding at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Crosby, they will take on Hartford Public at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
