Basketball Recap: Forsyth Home Educators Falls Short of Shining Light Academy in the Playoffs

Forsyth Home Educators and Shining Light Academy squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Forsyth Home Educators had to settle for second. They took a 65-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shining Light Academy Knights. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 544th, while the Knights are ranked 266th).

Despite the defeat, Forsyth Home Educators had strong showings from Baylin Clodfelter, who went 8-for-16 en route to 20 points and four steals, and Dawson Smith, who went 9-for-15 on his way to 21 points. Clodfelter has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Petusky, who posted ten points.

Shining Light Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Harry Uwaifo, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Those 20 points gave Uwaifo a new career-high. Alex Lash was another key player, going 7-for-13 to rack up 18 points and seven boards.

Forsyth Home Educators is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-15. As for Shining Light Academy, they pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.
