Softball Recap: Rains Takes a Loss

Rains fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Winnsboro on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Winnsboro Raiders by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since February 15th.

Rains has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8-1 record this season. The victory made it two in a row for Winnsboro and bumps their season record up to 5-5.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Rains Wildcats challenge Mount Vernon Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Winnsboro, they will head out to challenge Commerce at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Commerce has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.69 runs per game on average), something Winnsboro will no doubt try to take advantage of.
