Basketball Game Preview: Lawrenceburg Tigers vs. New Palestine Dragons

The Lawrenceburg Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the New Palestine Dragons at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Lawrenceburg duked it out withGreenfield-Central on Saturday. Lawrenceburg was dealt a 74-44 defeat at the hands of Greenfield-Central. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-20.

Meanwhile, New Palestine had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Flashes 69-38. That looming 69-38 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Dragons yet this season.

New Palestine had a senior duo take command as Julius Gizzi went 10 of 20 en route to 27 points and Moses Haynes dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Gizzi has scored at least a third of New Palestine's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Davison, who posted eight points.

New Palestine pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Lawrenceburg, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2.
