Preview: Lakewood Cougars vs. Oak Harbor Wildcats
The Lakewood Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Oak Harbor Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Lakewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday.
Lakewood put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season. They blew past Bellingham 63-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Lakewood has posted since November 27, 2023.
KRYSTLE RAYMOND and Karly Stewart were among the main playmakers for Lakewood as the former scored 16 points along with five steals and the latter scored 20 points along with seven steals. That's the first time this season that Stewart scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leiana Riveira, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Oak Harbor's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 44-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lynden Christian. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Oak Harbor has scored all season.
The victory got Lakewood back to even at 6-6. As for Oak Harbor, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Lakewood ended up a good deal behind Oak Harbor when the teams last played back in January of 2023, losing 53-39. Can Lakewood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
