Baseball Recap: Appomattox County Wins Going Away Against Randolph-Henry

Appomattox County barely beat Randolph-Henry the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Statesmen on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Raiders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Isaac Records tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Wilkerson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Appomattox County is undefeated when Wilkerson posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Stratton, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Appomattox County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Randolph-Henry, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5.

Coming up, Appomattox County will head out to challenge Liberty at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Randolph-Henry, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nottoway at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
