            Softball Recap: Highland Hornets vs. Atrisco Heritage Academy Jaguars        
        
		
        
        
            Highland had lost five straight on the road, but  on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-19 to make it six. They lost  23-1 to the Atrisco Heritage Academy Jaguars. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing  24-0 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in March of 2020, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record  this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by ten  runs or more this season.
For Atrisco Heritage Academy's part,  Ariana Lara made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off   one  hit. The dominant performance also gave  Lara a new career-high in  strikeouts (two). She was also big at the plate,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with two  RBI.
 In other batting news, Atrisco Heritage Academy got a  massive  performance out of  Larissa Morinia, who  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with four  runs, two  stolen bases,  and one  triple. Those  four  runs gave  Morinia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Melanie MacIas, who  went 3-for-4 with three  runs, three  RBI,  and one  stolen base.
 Coming up, Highland will head out to  take on Belen  at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, they will be playing at home against Los Lunas  at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday.
