Baseball Recap: Shaler Area Victorious

While Shaler Area put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Penn Hills. The Shaler Area Titans were the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over the Penn Hills Indians. The victory continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won four in a row.

Ben Yeckel made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Yeckel was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

In other pitching news, Sam Leo looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Colby Mcguire, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. Mcguire is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Luke Jarzynka, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Shaler Area's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Coming up, Shaler Area will be playing at home against Butler at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Butler will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Shaler Area surely won't give up without a fight. As for Penn Hills, they will face off against Gateway at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
