Recap: Beloit Trojans vs. Phillipsburg Panthers

The Beloit Trojans put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Phillipsburg 58-29 at home. The result was nothing new for Beloit, who have now won three games by 29 points or more so far this season.

Noah Gerstner was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five assists and three steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Bryce Beisner was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight blocks and seven rebounds.

Despite the loss, Phillipsburg still got an impressive performance from Rad Rodriguez, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Rodriguez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played.

Beloit's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.6 points per game. As for Phillipsburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beloit will be home for the holidays to greet Riley County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Riley County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Beloit is ranked tenth). Phillipsburg will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Russell at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Russell is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
