After flying high against Hillsborough last Friday, Sickles came back down to earth. The Sickles Gryphons took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Steinbrenner Warriors on Tuesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gryphons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-53 back in December of 2024.

Several Gryphons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jadyn Watts, who posted 18 points and seven boards. Watts' evening made it 14 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Sadie Jones was another key player, putting up 11 points and three blocks.

Steinbrenner found their leader in sophomore Sarah Coble, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Breanna Hartley, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards.

With the loss, Sickles broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-8. As for Steinbrenner, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 22-1.

Sickles will take on Armwood at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sickles is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season. As for Steinbrenner, they will square off against Bloomingdale at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Steinbrenner's defense has only allowed 27.7 points per game this season, so Bloomingdale's offense will have their work cut out for them.
