Preview: Union Grove Lions vs. Hawkins Hawks
Union Grove and Hawkins are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Union Grove Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Hawkins Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Grove will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1110th, while Hawkins is ranked 348th).
Union Grove suffered their biggest defeat since November 18, 2023 last Friday. They were dealt a 62-33 defeat at the hands of McLeod.
Meanwhile, Hawkins had already won 18 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.5 points), and they went ahead and made it 19 on Friday. They took down Big Sandy 55-36.
Union Grove's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Hawkins, their victory was their 15th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-1.
Union Grove came up short against Hawkins in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 62-50. Can Union Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
