Baseball Recap: Armwood Extends Winning Streak to Three

With a playoff win on the line, Armwood rose to the challenge on Monday. They put the hurt on the Tampa Bay Tech Titans with a sharp 16-1 victory. The win was nothing new for the Hawks as they're now sitting on three straight.

Inri Beltre looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has become a key player for Armwood: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-14 otherwise.

At the plate, Princeton Clark was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Armwood's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-14 when he doesn't). Christian Villanueva also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Armwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.

Armwood's record now sits at 8-15. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-22 record this season.

Armwood will take on Plant at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Tampa Bay Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
