Basketball Recap: Runge Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Nordheim came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against Runge, but Trinity Castillo wouldn't allow it. The Yellowjackets walked away with a 37-27 win over the Pirates on Thursday thanks in part to Castillo, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Runge's points.

Journee Garza was another key player, putting up three points and five steals. She has become a key player for Runge: the team is 8-1 when she posts at least three steals, but 7-10 otherwise.

The victory was the third in a row for Runge, bringing their record up to 15-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.3 points on average over those games. As for Nordheim, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That lines up perfectly with their 5-15 record this season.
