Basketball Recap: Leilani Aragon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Arete Prep over Bourgade Catholic

Arete Prep lost against Bourgade Catholic back in December of 2018 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Arete Prep CHARGERS fell to the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles 32-26.

Several CHARGERS players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leilani Aragon, who posted eight points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds gave Aragon a new career-high. Makaria Vaughn was another key player, putting up four points and nine rebounds.

Bourgade Catholic found their leader in sophomore Nizhoni Rainbolt, who put up 21 points and eight rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Rainbolt has scored at least a third of Bourgade Catholic's points. Another player making a difference was Kyra Williams, who had nine points and seven rebounds.

Arete Prep now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Bourgade Catholic, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7.

Arete Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-15 defeat against Florence on the 4th. As for Bourgade Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 44-27 loss against Desert Christian on the 4th.
