Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Grassfield's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

There's no place like home for Grassfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Oscar Smith Tigers on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Grizzlies have posted since March 28th.

Grassfield got a great performance from Logan Shaw as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Shaw a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Grassfield let Jameson Dick and Ayden Farris run wild. Dick went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Farris got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Farris has posted over his last eight contests.

Grassfield has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Oscar Smith, they moved to 8-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grassfield will venture away from home to challenge Deep Creek at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Grizzlies are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Oscar Smith, they will head out to square off against Indian River at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Braves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.94 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
