Football Game Preview: Ludlowe Falcons vs. Warde Mustangs

Two dominant signal callers in Ryan Love and James Dellavolpe are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After both having extra time off, the Ludlowe Falcons and the Warde Mustangs will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Ludlowe will be strutting in after a win while Warde will be coming in after a defeat.

Ludlowe is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Staples, who was ranked 20th at the time (Ludlowe was ranked 22nd). The Falcons walked away with a 28-21 victory over the Wreckers last Friday.

Liam Bond was his usual excellent self, rushing for 52 yards and four scores, while also picking up 43 receiving yards. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in November of 2024.

Another reason for the win was Ludlowe's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Carlo Noecker was especially locked on to Staples' QB and sacked him twice. Noecker has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last six times he's played.

Meanwhile, Warde came up short against Norwalk last Saturday and fell 39-32. The Mustangs have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Dellavolpe and Easton Pace. Pace had a great game and rushed for 236 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.4 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Dellavolpe was balling out in the loss, throwing for 348 yards and four touchdowns, while also punching in one score on the ground.

Warde didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jaylen Jacobs and Liam Carafotes.

Warde's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Ludlowe, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Ludlowe took their victory against Warde when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 38-16 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
