Baseball Game Preview: Grossmont Foothillers vs. Valhalla Norsemen

For the first time this season, Grossmont will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are taking a road trip to challenge the Valhalla Norsemen at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valhalla took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Grossmont, who comes in off a win.

Grossmont was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Cathedral Catholic 4-2.

Grossmont got a great performance from Luis Camargo as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. The Foothillers are 3-1 when Camargo allows two or fewer earned runs, but 4-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Tyler Holmes was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Colton Burke also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Valhalla was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of El Capitan.

Mace Wheeler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Grossmont's record now sits at 7-8. As for Valhalla, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
