It was a good run, but Northwest Whitfield unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 2-0 to the Calhoun Yellow Jackets. If the Bruins were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Yellow Jackets when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-17.

Jenna Quinn paced Northwest Whitfield's offense, picking up five kills. Quinn got some help from Megan Torbett and her nine assists.

Leading Calhoun to victory were Cate Rutland and Addie Hite. Rutland had 17 assists and two aces, while Hite had eight assists and two aces. That's the most aces Rutland has posted since back in October of 2024. Karmen Morgan also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Northwest Whitfield's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Calhoun, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Northwest Whitfield has already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Chattooga on the 23rd. As for Calhoun, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Halls on the 22nd.
